European Tour · Aphrodite Hills
The only Cyprus crew inside the bubble.
[ The problem ]
In 2020 the European Tour came to Aphrodite Hills in Cyprus, in the middle of Covid. The whole event ran inside a strict bubble: everyone on site was tested and sealed in with the players and staff for the duration. Backlight were the only crew from Cyprus cleared to work inside it.
[ What we did ]
- 01Passed the testing and entered the bubble, embedded with the tour, players and staff for the full event.
- 02Covered the tournament across the days, on the course and at the prize ceremony.
- 03Flew the drone and supplied that aerial footage to Sky Sports for their live coverage.
- 04Worked to broadcast standard throughout, inside a hard-access environment.
[ Outcome ]
Backlight were the only Cyprus crew inside the bubble, and the aerial footage fed straight into Sky Sports' live coverage. A hard-access, broadcast-standard job delivered from inside the tour.
