Quantum Nicosia Marathon
Live to national TV, built overnight.
[ The problem ]
The Quantum Nicosia Marathon had to reach Cyprus at home, live on the national broadcaster RIK1, from 7am. The complication was access: the site for the outside-broadcast van only opened at 8pm the night before. That left a single overnight window to build an entire live broadcast, with no room for error once the race started.
[ What we did ]
- 01Built the broadcast overnight: positioned the OB van, ran cable, and tested every camera, audio feed and graphics system before sunrise.
- 02Set a three-camera studio for the presenters, with cameras at the start line for the race itself.
- 03Ran custom quad-bike gimbal rigs across the city, one remote-controlled and one on steadicam, for moving shots that kept pace with the runners.
- 04Added FPV and Inspire drones for the aerials, and cut the whole show live from the OB van: director, technical director, floor manager and graphics.
[ Outcome ]
The marathon went out live to RIK1 from 7am, built in a single overnight window and cut clean from the OB van. A high-stakes national broadcast delivered with no second take.
